How to Choose

Four questions narrow the lineup to the knife that fits your day.

  1. How Does It Open?

An OTF sends its blade straight out the front of the handle and draws it back with the same button. A side-opening automatic like the A3 Delta swings open at one press. A manual folder opens with a flick of the flipper tab. A fixed blade is always ready.

  2. How Will You Carry It?

OTFs and folders clip inside a pocket and disappear until you need them. Short on pocket space? The A2 Badger, our best seller, weighs just over 2 ounces. A fixed blade rides in a sheath on your belt or pack, which suits the trail more than the office.

  3. What Is It For?

Opening boxes, cutting cord and everyday odd jobs suit any OTF or folder. A larger folder like the F3 Charlie handles heavier cutting. For carving, dressing game and long days at camp, a full-tang fixed blade like the X1 Atlas gives you the most strength.

  4. Is It Legal Where You Live?

Automatic and OTF knives face tighter limits than manual folders in some states and cities, and the laws change. Check the rules where you live and carry before you order. Start with our Knife Laws by State guide, then look up your city or county.

Which TEKTO Knife Is Best for Everyday Carry?

For most people, the A2 Badger. It is our best-selling knife, a compact OTF with a 1.85-inch blade that opens and closes with one button and weighs 2.18 ounces. Prefer a manual folder? The F2 Bravo is slim and light at 2.4 ounces. If you would rather carry on your belt, the X1 Atlas fixed blade comes with its own sheath.

Are Automatic and OTF Knives Legal Where I Live?

It depends on your state, and sometimes your city or county. Some places allow automatic and OTF knives with few limits, while others restrict blade length or where you can carry one. Our Knife Laws by State guide breaks down the rules in all 50 states. In California, state law allows automatic knives with blades under 2 inches, such as the A2 Badger, A3 Delta Mini and A5 Spry Mini. Local rules can be stricter, so check yours before you order.

Is Every Knife Here Covered by the Lifetime Warranty?

Yes. Every genuine TEKTO knife is covered against defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the knife. The warranty stays with the knife when it is passed on, and you never need a receipt. See how the Lifetime Warranty works.
