PEOPLE ARE ASKING

Is the A5 Spry an automatic knife?

Yes, the A5 Spry is an automatic out-the-front (OTF) knife. It ejects and retracts the blade by pushing and pulling the push button. Automatic knives are also known as switchblade knives in some places.

Is S35VN considered a good steel?

The CPM-S35VN steel employed for the A5 Spry blade stands out in the premium knife market for its unparalleled blend of toughness, edge retention, wear resistance, and its exceptional corrosion resistance.

Is the A5 Spry difficult to sharpen?

All Tekto knives come sharpened. As is expected, at some point, they will require a sharpening. The secret is not to let the blade get too dull. S35VN is a relatively hard steel that can be sharpened with nearly any standard device.

Where is the A5 Spry made?

As with all Tekto knives, the A5 Spry is designed, tested, and assembled in Portland, ME. Tekto uses a combination of local and foreign manufacturers and in-house capabilities to create a quality product for life's most demanding missions.

Are OTF / Automatic Knives legal?

Knife laws vary from state to state. We recommend that you review your local laws. For more information, check out this guide.

Is the A5 Spry good for left-handed carry?

Yes, the Spry has a side button and a reversible clip, which makes it ideal for left-handed carry.

Which blade style should I choose?

The Dagger style is ideal for piercing and precise cutting; the Drop Point excels in general-purpose tasks, while the Tanto blade offers robust strength and piercing capabilities. Decide what you'll be using your knife for, and choose the correct blade style for that task.

Mini A5 Spry review

I received the Spry mini about 3 weeks ago for free in return for doing a quick review of my initial thoughts. I own a regular size spry, and this was a great addition. The mini is identical to the larger version and functions exactly the same. The only difference that I noticed between the two is that the mini comes with a much better glass breaker, it’s easier to screw and unscrew, and it features a tungsten steel ball which should make it easier to break glass in case of an emergency. Its much easier to carry than the larger spry as it weight next to nothing and you dont even feel that its in your pocket. This knife has become my edc and is fun to fidget with. I haven’t used it long enough to tell you about the edge retention, but I have used it daily and have not had to sharpen it yet. Overall, a great knife, I just wish they sent me a green one to match my existing larger spry.

Great Knife

I recently purchased the A5 Spry Mini OTF knife from Tekto, and I am absolutely thrilled with it! This knife is a perfect combination of style, functionality, and durability.

Firstly, the design is sleek and modern, making it a practical tool and a great addition to my EDC collection. The compact size makes it incredibly convenient to carry around, fitting comfortably in my pocket without adding any noticeable bulk.

The automatic out-the-front mechanism works flawlessly. It's quick, smooth, and reliable every single time. The blade deployment and retraction are both satisfying and secure, ensuring that the knife is always ready when I need it and safe when I don't.

The blade itself is impressively sharp and holds its edge well, even after extensive use. The S35VN steel used in the blade construction is evident, providing excellent performance and durability. I've used it for a variety of tasks, from opening packages to outdoor activities, and it has never let me down.

Thanks to its ergonomic design and textured surface, the handle offers a great grip. Even in wet conditions, I feel confident using this knife without worrying about it slipping out of my hand.

Overall, the A5 Spry Mini OTF knife from Tekto is a fantastic product. It's reliable, well-made, and aesthetically pleasing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality EDC knife. Tekto has truly outdone themselves with this one!

Almost Redundant to the A2 Badger

I find the A5 Spry Mini to be very close in build to the A2 Badger. I know the blades between the two are different steels (D2 v. S35VN), but I am not sure why the Spry Mini is $40 more. The Spry Mini offers more blade options where the A2 Badger only offers the Tanto. I really like the Spry Mini just as I really like the Badger. I recommend both just don’t get the Tanto blade with the Spry Mini and buy the Badger instead.
