Federal law restricts the shipment of automatic knives across state lines. However, there are some exceptions. You may order an automatic opening knife if you fall into one of the following categories:

• You are a civilian or Armed Forces supply or procurement officer or employee of the Federal Government, purchasing knives for government-related activities.
• You are an active Armed Forces member or employee, using the knife in the line of duty.
• You are a supply or procurement officer of the National Guard, the Air National Guard, or a militia of a State, Territory, or the District of Columbia, purchasing knives for organizational use.
• You are a supply or procurement officer or employee of the municipal government of the District of Columbia or a government entity of any State or Territory, or any county, city, or political subdivision thereof, acquiring knives for official purposes.
• You are a manufacturer of such knives or a legitimate dealer ordering on behalf of an eligible customer as described in paragraphs 1, 2, 3, or 4.
